VIDALIA, Ga. (WTOC) — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation released new details Friday in a double homicide investigation at the Raymonia Apartment Complex in Vidalia.

Investigators said Vidalia Police responded to a shots fired call. When officers arrived, 20-year-old Xzavier Elijah Andrews and 17-year-old Za’Mariyah Nicole Robinson were found with gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead.

Neighbors remember victims

Friends and neighbors gathered Friday to remember Andrews and Robinson, describing the couple as good people who will be missed.

“If you see him, you see her, so you just know they were crazy and in love, and it was a young thing so I hate what transpired, but you can’t help what happens,” Carter said.

Antwan Johnson, a neighbor, said he bonded with Andrews quickly after they met and the three of them spent time together often.

Johnson described Andrews as funny, caring and hardworking, saying he held two jobs — working at Subway and a local car wash.

“Ya they was good people though, I don’t even know how it came to this,” Johnson said.

Kendra Carter, another neighbor, remembered the two fondly.

“Marie was a sweetheart person, she had the most beautiful heart,” Carter said. “He was a provider, he did what he had to do — I always seen him working.”

Carter said Andrews took care of Robinson and their young child.

Both Johnson and Carter said they will miss their friends and that each had a beautiful heart.

Another community member called for an end to the violence.

“This is so sad, like, y’all need to, guns down, stop it, please, I’m begging,” the person said.

Carter also called on the community to take action.

“As a community I think we should get together, as a community and keep it out of here, there is nothing the police can do about it,” she said.
