Fort Stewart kicks off America’s 250 celebration with family festivities, live music and fireworks

FORT STEWART, Ga. (WTOC) - From bouncy houses to live music, families gathered Thursday for a full day of activities as Fort Stewart kicked off its America’s 250 Independence Day celebration at Donovan Field.
The free, family-friendly event featured local bands, including the 3rd Infantry Division Band, which took part in a friendly musical competition.
Organizers also offered patriotic activities and hosted dozens of vendors throughout the celebration.
One Army family attending the event said the goal was not only to celebrate the United States, but also the community around them.
“It’s been great. It’s been the camaraderie of the service members, all the events, everybody hosting everything. It’s just a good sense of community here, supportive of the troops. Everything is great. Independence Day in America is a great celebration,” Staff Sgt. Chris Bequette said.
A fireworks display over Fort Stewart concluded the night’s festivities.
