Five indicted in July Fellwood Homes shooting that injured three

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A Chatham County grand jury indicted 5 men this week on 3 counts of aggravated assault each in connection with a July 25 shooting at Fellwood Homes that injured 3 people.
The indictment alleges the 5 men shot a woman and 2 men during the incident. One count relates to the shooting of the woman, a second count relates to the shooting of one man, and a third count relates to the shooting of a separate man.
The defendants are 18-year-old Ja’Quan Cooper, 18-year-old Kaleb Detty, 19-year-old Jamari Fields, 19-year-old Keonte Williams and 18-year-old Johann Vasquez-Arenas.
All have been denied bond as of publication.

Background on the case
The shooting happened at approximately 10:35 p.m. on July 25 during a community reunion at Fellwood Homes in West Savannah that drew between 80 and 100 people, according to previous testimony from SPD Detective Skinner.
A first ShotSpotter alert registered two rounds fired at 10:28 p.m. A second alert registered multiple rounds at 10:35 p.m. as police were arriving on scene.

Three people were struck by gunfire. A woman and a young man were transported by EMS with gunshot wounds to the legs or lower extremities and possibly one arm. A third victim sustained injuries to the torso, was transported by private vehicle and underwent multiple surgeries before being released.
All five defendants previously had probable cause found against them during a preliminary hearing, and bond was denied for all five. Their cases were bound over to the Chatham County grand jury at that time.
Next will be the arraignment for the 5 defendants, where they will plead guilty or not guilty. No date for that has been set as of publication.
