Fire damages abandoned house; cause under investigation

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Chatham County firefighters responded to a structure fire at an abandoned house around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. Officials said multiple units arrived to find visible smoke and flames and started to prevent the spread of flames.
No injuries were reported. Fire officials described the house as abandoned and possibly inhabited by homeless population.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Georgia State Fire Marshal.
WTOC crews went to the scene of a large structure fire on Silk Hope Road off of Ogeechee Road.
