Fatal e-bike crash on Hilton Head Island under investigation

HILTON HEAD, S.C. (WTOC) - South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving an electric bicycle and a car on Hilton Head Island.
The crash happened around 9:50 p.m. on Marshland Road. A 2019 Dodge Charger struck a bicyclist while both were traveling north, according to investigators.
The bicyclist died at the scene. The driver was not injured.
The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Gregory Herman, a 72-year-old male from Bluffton. Officials said Herman died from blunt force injuries sustained in the crash. The SC Highway Patrol is the investigating agency.
