Fallen trees knock out power for over 16,000 Palmetto Electric members in the Lowcountry
BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) - Fallen trees on power lines have left over 16,000 residents in the Lowcountry without electricity on Tuesday evening.
According to Palmetto Electric Cooperative, the outages are impacting approximately 16,140 members across Beaufort and Jasper counties.
Utility officials stated that the widespread outages are a direct result of trees falling onto power lines. Crews have been dispatched and are working as safely and quickly as possible to restore power to the affected areas.
