Effingham County partners with ConfirmOk to launch wellness check program for seniors and vulnerable residents

EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office has partnered with ConfirmOk to launch a new program that provides daily safety check-ins for residents across the county.
The service is designed to help seniors, people living alone and others who may benefit from routine wellness checks. Through the program, registered participants receive an automated phone call each day at a time they choose.
If the first call goes unanswered, ConfirmOk places two additional calls at five-minute intervals. If there is still no response after the third attempt, the system alerts Effingham County 911 dispatchers, who follow up to ensure the individual’s well-being.
Sheriff Jimmy McDuffie said the partnership adds another layer of safety for residents while giving caregivers and family members additional peace of mind.
Officials say caregivers can register themselves or loved ones for scheduled wellness calls and receive immediate notifications if a check-in is missed. The system also allows users to customize call times based on their daily routines.
The program includes automated daily check-ins, emergency dispatch notifications for missed calls, instant alerts for caregivers and flexible scheduling options. Participants simply answer the automated call and confirm they are safe by pressing a designated key combination. If no confirmation is received, the system automatically begins its escalation process.
