Dr. Jamal Touré gets lifetime achievement award
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Congratulations to well-known historian, Dr. Jamal Touré!
He has been selected to receive a 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Georgia Historical Records Advisory Council. According to Sonny Perdue, chancellor of the University System of Georgia, Touré earned this recognition through his extraordinary leadership in preserving and promoting African American History and Gullah Geechee culture through his work.
He says Touré’s work ensures this vital heritage is safeguarded and celebrated for future generations.
