Downtown traffic alert: Bay Street lane closures begin Sunday

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Drivers should prepare for delays on Bay Street in downtown Savannah beginning Sunday, Sept. 20.

The center lanes of Bay Street between Drayton and Bull streets will temporarily close as crews stage equipment for utility repairs along East Bay Street.

Bay Street will remain open, but the center lanes are expected to be inaccessible for at least one week. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes, allow additional travel time and exercise caution near the work zone.

The City of Savannah says it will continue monitoring conditions and provide updates as needed.
