Dooley campaigns as outsider in GOP Senate runoff

ATLANTA, Ga. (WTOC) - Former football coach and attorney Derek Dooley faces Congressman Mike Collins in the GOP Senate primary runoff race.

In the May primary, Collins led with 40.50% of the vote, while Dooley had 30.19%, forcing Tuesday’s rematch.

Gov. Brian Kemp has been campaigning alongside Dooley and endorsed him in this runoff.

Dooley runs on ‘Georgia First Contract’

Dooley’s campaign has been running on what he calls his “Georgia First Contract,” a five-point pledge that includes term limits, a ban on stock and crypto trading by members of Congress, and saying lawmakers should lose pay during government shutdowns.

He has also been casting himself as a political outsider, posting that he is not in this race to get rich or chase headlines, but to take on what he calls career politicians.

Dooley is holding his watch party near Truist Park, set to start at 8 p.m.
