Deputy injured, 2 in custody after pursuit in Appling County

BAXLEY, Ga. (WTOC) - Appling County Sheriff Mark Melton said two suspects were in custody after a deputy was hit while responding to a possible stolen vehicle call.
Melton wrote that deputies were dispatched to the Woody Folsom Auto Group just after 11:15 a.m. on Friday, August 21, in reference to a possible stolen vehicle. When deputies arrived, the suspects drove off and hit a deputy. That deputy was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Following a pursuit, deputies arrested both suspects.
Melton stated that the investigation remains active and investigators are interviewing additional parties. Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
