Low pressure will strengthen off the North Carolina coast and slow pull away from the area by Friday. North winds will give us high surf, elevated tides & rip current risk. It will also help usher in cooler air from the north. We will slowly begin to clear out tonight with inland daybreak temps in the 50s. Friday looks nice with sunny skies and highs in the mid 70s and lighter winds. The weekend looks great with highs in the low 80s to mid 80s and lots of sun. Morning low temps will fall into the low to mid 50s Saturday and Sunday mornings. Skies remain mostly sunny Monday and Tuesday with increasing temps and humidity. We’ll see a slight rain chance Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tonight will mostly cloudy with a 10% chance for showers then mostly clear by daybreak, lows in the upper 50s.

Friday will be sunny, highs in the upper 70s.

Friday night will be clear, lows in the low to mid 50s.

Saturday will be mostly sunny, highs in the low 80s.

Saturday night will be mostly clear, lows in the mid to upper 50s.

Sunday will be partly cloudy, highs in the mid 80s.

Coastal Waters Forecast: SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY in effect through Saturday morning. Tonight: N winds at 20-25 kt with gusts to 30 kt. Seas: 6-8 ft. Friday: N winds at 20-25 kt diminishing to 15-20 kt in the afternoon. Seas: 6-8 ft subsiding to 5-7 ft in the afternoon.

Tropical Outlook: Tropical Storm Fay is back and is located several hundred miles southwest of the Azores. Fay is forecast to move west and dissipate by the weekend. Fay is no threat to any land. Tropical Strom Gonzalo has formed a few hundred miles south-southeast of the Cabo Verde Islands. Gonzalo may strengthen a little Friday as it generally moves northwest to northward. Gonzalo will become non tropical by early next week and is no threat to the US.
