Daffin Park to host annual ‘Miles to Margaritas’ race benefiting Coastal Pet Rescue

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Hundreds of runners are preparing to hit Daffin Park for Savannah’s annual Miles to Margaritas 5K and 10K, an event benefiting Coastal Pet Rescue.

The race is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 22, at 8 a.m.

Organizers said they expect nearly 800 registered participants this year, making Savannah the largest and most attended event in the Miles to Margaritas race series. The 10K division is nearly sold out, and a limited number of spots remain for the 5K.

“This race has become so much more than a 5K or 10K for us,” Noel Ransom Washington, founder of Miles to Margaritas, said. “Savannah has embraced this event year after year. What makes it even more special is knowing that we are bringing hundreds of people together while supporting Coastal Pet Rescue.”

Coastal Pet Rescue is a Savannah-area nonprofit dedicated to rescuing homeless, abused, and neglected animals.

In addition to the races, participants will receive finisher medals and shirts, and can celebrate at a post-race party featuring mango, pineapple, and passion fruit margaritas. Awards will also be given to the largest, fastest, and most spirited teams.
