BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) — The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office has identified the driver killed after crashing into a utility pole and two trees Sunday morning.

Sergio Najera-Nava Jr., 18, of Hilton Head, died from blunt force injuries sustained in the single-vehicle collision, according to Coroner Michael Bowers.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the crash happened Sunday just after 10 a.m. near the intersection of Marshland Road and Leg O’ Mutton Road. Troopers say a 2018 Dodge Charger was headed south on Marshland Road when it lost control and went off the right side of the road.

The vehicle reportedly hit a utility pole and two trees. Najera-Nava Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers continue to investigate the crash.
