Community giveback continues for Georgetown fire families this holiday weekend

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Families displaced by the Georgetown apartment fire will receive continued support this weekend during a community giveback event at Lake Mayer.
Hosted by Overflowing Cups Foundation LLC and Pythagoras Lodge 11, the Georgetown Fire Community Giveback will take place Saturday, July 5, from noon to 3 p.m.
Organizers say all donated clothing, household items and other giveaway items are reserved exclusively for families affected by the Georgetown apartment fire. Affected families will receive wristbands that allow them to shop and collect donated items during the event. Hair services will also be available only for children impacted by the fire.
While the giveaways are reserved for fire victims, the event is open to the public to show support, network with neighbors and enjoy the community gathering.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase from local vendors.
Organizers are not accepting on-site clothing donations during the event because all donated items have already been sorted, organized and prepared for distribution.
However, they are still accepting:
- New socks
- New undergarments
- School uniforms
- Gift cards
- Monetary donations
- Community partnerships to help establish a food pantry
The event will also feature music, games and opportunities for the community to come together while supporting families recovering from the devastating fire.
