Coastal Georgia residents can access free HIV testing at Walgreens locations for National HIV Testing Day

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Coastal Health District HIV Prevention Program is partnering with Walgreens to offer free HIV testing events across Chatham and Glynn counties in recognition of National HIV Testing Day.
The testing events will take place Saturday, June 27, at five Walgreens locations in Savannah, Garden City and Brunswick. Health officials say all testing will be free and confidential, and participants will also have access to educational resources and giveaways.
According to the Coastal Health District, Georgia continues to have some of the highest HIV rates in the nation, and many people living with HIV may not know they are infected.
Health officials say testing is the only way to know your HIV status and is an important step in prevention, treatment and long-term health.
Free walk-in HIV testing is available year-round at health departments in Bryan, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long and McIntosh counties. Residents can also request free at-home HIV self-test kits.
More information about HIV prevention, testing and treatment services is available through the Coastal Health District.
