Coastal flooding, dangerous surf threaten Beaufort and Jasper shores

BEAUFORT AND COASTAL JASPER, Sc. (WTOC) - Coastal flooding, large waves and dangerous rip currents are expected along Beaufort County and coastal Jasper County shores Tuesday.
A Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. Oct. 6. Up to half a foot of saltwater inundation above ground level is expected along shorelines and tidal waterways, potentially affecting some roads.
High tide at Fort Pulaski is expected around 5:31 p.m. Flooding is possible several hours before and after high tide.
A High Surf Advisory is also in effect until 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, with breaking waves of 4 to 7 feet expected in the surf zone.
A high rip current risk continues until 8 p.m. Tuesday. Rip currents can sweep even experienced swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
