Coastal Empire Montessori finds a new home on Cynthia Street

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Coastal Empire Montessori, Georgia’s first Montessori charter school, broke ground on a new brick-and-mortar campus Tuesday, ending years of operation out of modular buildings on a former dairy farm.
“This just brings another later of those choices for students and their families so they can live those choice full lives,” said Shekeria Smith Barnes, Charter School Liaison.
The new campus on Cynthia Street will consolidate the school’s facilities, previously spread across 12 modular structures, under one roof. The building includes a gym and cafeteria.
“It is still a little hard to believe, I mean if you walk inside and you might go AH! is this really going to become our new school home,” said Executive Director of Coastal Empire Montessori, Stephanie Babcock-Wright.
Officials said they expect students to begin using the new campus in December.
