Coast Guard confirms body recovered in search area near Sapelo Sound

SAPELO ISLAND, Ga. (WTOC) - The United States Coast Guard confirms search and rescue personnel recovered a body while searching for two 50-year-old males near Sapelo Sound.

Officials say they cannot confirm the individual’s identity.

The body was transferred to the local coroner’s office for further identification. Until then, the Coast Guard says they have, “suspended its search pending new information.”
