Coach Middleton of Beach High honored at I-95 bridge dedication
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A bridge on I-95 over the Ogeechee River has been dedicated to Coach Carl Middleton Sr. of Alfred Ely Beach High School.
Middleton has been recognized as Coach of the Year six times by the Georgia High School Association, and has served as a role model at Beach High School for over four decades.
Georgia State Representative Carl Gilliard said at the ceremony, “He coached so many individuals in his walk, so this is a fitting tribute to a humble legend.”
Middleton says, “I am pleased. Every time I see any person who achieved and is successful in life, I am happy.”
From now on, that stretch of I-95 will be known as the “Coach Carl Middleton Bridge.”
