City of Savannah to host virtual public meeting on floodplain management plan

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The City of Savannah Development Services department announced that it is inviting residents to review and provide feedback on its updated Floodplain Management Plan during an upcoming virtual public meeting.
The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 5:30 p.m. and will be hosted online via Microsoft Teams.
The updated plan evaluates the city’s flood hazards and vulnerabilities, assesses local capabilities to implement mitigation projects, and identifies actions to reduce flood risks. Savannah’s participation in the Community Rating System (CRS) through this plan also helps provide flood insurance premium discounts to local policyholders.
Before the meeting, the public can review the draft plan on the city’s flood information webpage. Comments and feedback should be emailed to the city’s planning consultant, David Stroud, at david.strourd@wsp.com.
