City of Savannah launches online map highlighting traffic safety improvements

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Savannah residents now have a new way to see where traffic safety improvements are happening across the city.

The City of Savannah has launched an interactive online traffic calming map through its Savannah Vision Zero (SAVZ) program, giving residents access to information about safety projects in their neighborhoods.

The map highlights traffic calming installations, school zones and recently implemented speed limit changes, providing a centralized resource for residents interested in learning more about the city’s ongoing traffic safety efforts.

City officials say the map is part of Savannah Vision Zero’s education and outreach initiative, which emphasizes transparency and data-driven decision-making.

“Safety starts with awareness,” said Faye DiMassimo, the city’s chief of planning and economic development. “This map gives residents an easy way to see how traffic calming strategies are being used across Savannah to reduce speeding, improve street safety and make our neighborhoods more livable.”

Savannah Vision Zero is a citywide strategy focused on eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injuries while creating safer, healthier and more equitable transportation options for everyone.

Residents can explore the interactive traffic calming map and learn more about the Vision Zero program by visiting the City’s Savannah Vision Zero webpage.
