Chatham County to host free workshop on property tax appeals

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Chatham County property owners will have the opportunity to learn more about their property tax assessments during a free educational workshop hosted by the Chatham County Tax Commissioner’s Office next week.
Tax Commissioner Sonya L. Jackson is inviting residents to attend Tax Commissioner University on Thursday, July 2, at the Coastal Georgia Center, 305 Fahm St., in Savannah.
The session, “Understanding Your Assessment Notice & Filing an Appeal,” is designed to help homeowners better understand their property assessment notices, available tax exemptions and the steps involved in filing an appeal.
Organizers say the program will provide practical information and resources to help residents navigate the property tax process with confidence.
To accommodate different schedules, two sessions will be offered:
- 10 a.m.
- 6 p.m.
Attendance is free, but pre-registration is encouraged.
“Tax Commissioner University is an excellent opportunity for residents to learn more about the services and resources available through our office,” Jackson said. “Our goal is to provide clear, accessible information that empowers citizens to make informed decisions regarding their property and taxes.”
Tax Commissioner University is part of the office’s ongoing effort to educate the public about property taxes, motor vehicle services and other programs offered by the Tax Commissioner’s Office.
Residents can register online or call 912-652-7100 for additional information.
