CAT’s union leader addresses rumors of possible strike
CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - Chatham Area Transit’s union leader is speaking about rumors of a possible strike.
Earlier this week CAT said its legal team received written notice of a strike. Union President Donya Swinton responded to that denying there’s an organized strike and called it “simply rumor.”
CAT points out that state law prohibits public employees in Georgia from participating in a strike. The agency also highlighted what happened last November when thousands of riders were impacted because employees called out.
The union president says there are many issues within CAT, but that workers have never been encouraged to participate in a strike.
