Burton Fire District responds to five injury crashes over weekend

BURTON, Sc. (WTOC) - The Burton Fire District responded to 32 emergencies between June 12 and the morning of June 15, including five vehicle collisions that all resulted in injuries.
The most serious crash happened Saturday evening on Carolina Avenue in the Grays Hill community. Firefighters found a vehicle on its side with the driver trapped inside. Crews stabilized the vehicle and removed the windshield to rescue the driver, who was taken to the hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. The roadway was closed for more than 30 minutes.

Other crashes included a vehicle and bicycle collision on Parris Island Gateway on June 12, a two-vehicle crash on Trask Parkway near Roseida Road on June 14, and two crashes reported Monday morning on Joe Frazier Road, Bay Pines Road and Castle Rock Road. Minor injuries and traffic delays were reported in those incidents.
According to the fire district, crews have responded to more than 90 vehicle collisions so far in 2026. Nearly two-thirds of those crashes resulted in injuries, and five required the rescue of trapped occupants.
