Burton FD rescues entrapped driver on Broad River Blvd.

BEAUFORT, Sc. (WTOC) - The Burton Fire District said they and Beaufort County EMS rescued a driver trapped inside his vehicle on Saturday morning.

Just before 3 a.m. Saturday, emergency crews responded to a reported vehicle collision with a trapped occupant on Broad River Boulevard by Sundown Bend. The car was flipped on its side.

“Burton firefighters stabilized the vehicle to allow EMS personnel to begin assessing the driver’s injuries. Firefighters then removed the vehicle’s windshield and extricated the driver who was then transported to Beaufort Memorial with what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries,” they wrote.

They reported Burton FD has responded to over 125 vehicle collisions in 2026 rescuing trapped occupants in five of those collisions.
