Blessings on the Block hosts community food giveaway in Garden City

GARDEN CITY, Ga. (WTOC) - A free community event brought food, fun and fellowship to Garden City Saturday.

Blessings on the Block hosted a “Feeding the Community” event at Jesus First Church on U.S. Highway 80 West.

The event was open to everyone. There was baked and grill chicken, string beans, macaroni, rolls and cake served. A DJ and bounce house were all on hands for families.

Organizers even had cash giveaways of $100 to $200 dollars.

“So, I first started Blessing on the Block going around Savannah just doing money drops and I love serving the community so I said ‘why not feed the community’ so here we are with Blessing on the Block, feeding the community today at Jesus First Community Church. I love giving back so to have people actually see the vision and is with the vision, it makes me so proud,” says Denay Johnson, host of Blessing on the Block.

The event was supported by several local sponsors, including Walthourville Meat Market and Chillychock Wings and Seafood.
