Beloved Georgia college soccer player dies at 19, team says

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A Georgia college soccer player who was known as a “beaming light” died last month, the school announced.

The Georgia College & State University (GCSU) women’s soccer team said Isabella “Izzy” Sause died on Aug. 30 “after a brave and courageous journey.”

The 19-year-old sophomore from Loganville was a forward for the Bobcats. She was majoring in pre-nursing.

According to a GoFundMe, she had a rare type of melanoma and had been undergoing treatment for more than two years.

“Izzy was always a beaming light of positivity and saw the best in any situation,” GCSU women’s soccer head coach Jack Marchant said. “She was and always will be an integral part of our group, and we know she will always be a Bobcat and be with us.”

The Bobcats compete in the Division II Peach Belt Conference.

A memorial service will take place on Friday at 5 p.m. at Graystone Church at 1551 Ozora Road in Loganville.
