by Shakuria Smith

BEAUFORT, Sc. (WTOC) - The Beaufort Police Department is inviting the community to take part in two separate free events designed to strengthen public engagement and provide family-friendly summer activities.

The first event, a community movie afternoon, will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Charles Lind Brown Center, located at 1001 Hamar Street in Beaufort.

Families are encouraged to attend a screening of The Sandlot while spending time with Beaufort Police officers in a relaxed, informal setting. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, and complimentary snacks and drinks will be available outside the center.

The event is open to the public, though children must be accompanied by an adult.

Later that week, the department will host its fourth annual Open House on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Beaufort Police Headquarters, located at 1901 Boundary Street.

The Open House will allow community members to tour the department and learn more about its operations and role in public safety. Activities will include interactive demonstrations, crafts, virtual training experiences, opportunities to meet community partners, and raffles throughout the event.

Officials say both events are part of the department’s ongoing efforts to build stronger relationships with residents and provide positive opportunities for community engagement during the summer months.
