Authorities recapture two inmates after brief escape from FCI Jesup

JESUP, Ga. (WTOC) - Two inmates who escaped from the Federal Correctional Institution in Jesup on Friday were recaptured within about 30 minutes after local and federal law enforcement agencies established a perimeter around the facility.
According to Jesup Police, the inmates escaped from FCI Jesup shortly before they were apprehended. Authorities said the inmates traveled no more than about 200 yards from the prison before they were taken back into custody.
The Jesup Police Department, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and K-9 units responded to assist in the search. Officials said the Federal Correctional Institution is the lead agency investigating the escape.
The identities of the inmates have not been released.
