Atlanta man sentenced to 40 years in Savannah federal court on child pornography charges

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - An Atlanta man has been sentenced to 40 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to child pornography charges in Savannah.
U.S. District Court Chief Judge R. Stan Baker sentenced 26-year-old Octavius D’Angelo Sheffield to 480 months in prison, followed by 20 years of supervised release.
Sheffield pleaded guilty to production and possession of child pornography stemming from incidents in November 2022, where he recorded illegal sexual contact with a minor on a cell phone. He previously pled guilty to related state charges of statutory rape and aggravated assault in December 2024.
The case was investigated by the FBI and the Savannah Police Department.
“This sentence reflects the extraordinary seriousness of exploiting a minor,” said U.S. Attorney Meg Heap. “This office, along with our law enforcement partners, are committed to protecting vulnerable children.”
