SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Winn Army Community Hospital and Naval Hospital Beaufort will meet on the flag football field Oct. 31 for a game open to the public at Memorial Stadium.

Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. The event is free and will also include health information booths, military recruiters, an Army static display and a trunk-or-treat for children.

Captain Juan Rosario, commanding officer for Naval Support Facility Beaufort and Naval Hospital Beaufort, and Colonel Alex Montgomery of the Army both said they’re looking forward to taking part in an event built around the community that supports their families.

“We’re brothers in arms, and this is a great way for us to collectively just say thank you,” Rosario said. “Yes, 24/7 we’re always supporting the families, the veterans, the active duties, the war fighters, but again it’s good every once in a while to kind of do things like this, take the shirt off and kind of highlight what we do.”

Rosario said the game is also a chance to showcase the rivalry’s history in the area.

“We get to work hard and fall together and do amazing things down range, supporting our war fighters, but this is an opportunity for us to showcase a great American tradition, which is the Navy being in the Army here in Chatham County,” Rosario said.
