Yemassee man arrested in Pennsylvania, charged with murder in connection to April 4 fatal stabbing

HAMPTON COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - The Hampton County Sheriff’s Office says an arrest has been made in connection with a fatal stabbing that happened April 4 in the Yemassee area of Hampton County.

37-year-old Johnathan Kenneth Romig of Yemasse was taken into custody in the state of Pennsylvania in connection with this incident.

Romig has been charged with murder.

This arrest involved multiple law enforcement agencies working across state lines.

“No matter where you run, no matter how far you go, we will put in the time, the effort, and the resources necessary to track you down and hold you accountable. We stand firm with victims of these types of crimes. This case is a strong example of what can be accomplished through teamwork, persistence, and dedication. I am proud of the work carried out by our investigators and grateful for the assistance provided by our partner agencies. Their support was instrumental in helping us bring this case to this point,” said Sheriff Anthony Russell in a statement.

The Hampton County Sheriff’s Office said this is an active case.
