Woman posing as nurse attempts to access Savannah hospital clinical areas

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A woman posing as a nurse attempted to gain access to clinical areas at Memorial Health on two separate occasions, prompting the hospital to issue a security alert to staff members.

According to the alert, the woman attempted to access the maternity unit by telling staff it was her first day on January 26th. On Friday, she gained entry to the emergency department area by closely following another staff member through a door.

WTOC confirmed that Memorial Health sent out the “be on the look out” alert to team members as part of the hospital’s security protocol. The alert instructed staff to call security if they spotted the woman.

Memorial Health provided a statement regarding the incidents.

“Our layers of security worked and we’re thankful to our vigilant team members. We remain committed to maintaining a safe environment across our campus,” the hospital said.

Woman also attempted to enter WTOC studio

The same woman visited WTOC’s studio last Thursday, according to security footage from the station’s front lobby. She called the newsroom multiple times, telling staff members she was at the station for an interview.

When asked who she was there to interview with, the woman gave conflicting information. She was later escorted out by station staff.
