Wayne County schools to remain open as officials monitor wildfires
WAYNE COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) -Wayne County schools plan to remain open Monday as officials monitor ongoing wildfires in the area.
The school system said it is in communication with Emergency Management Agency officials and other emergency personnel.
District officials said the safety of students and staff remains the top priority and they will continue to assess conditions and share updates as needed.
Families who feel they cannot safely travel to school were asked to send a note with their child when they return.
The school system is encouraging families to stay informed and review their emergency plans in case conditions change.
