WTOC meteorologist caddies for amateur golfer at RBC Heritage Pro-Am
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Some of the best golfers were each partnered with four amateurs to take in the course at Harbour Town during Pro-Am day at the RBC Heritage.
One of the caddies for the Pro-Am was WTOC meteorologist Jamie Ertle.
Ertle said she was a little nervous to be a caddy for the event.
She played golf in high school and caddied a little bit before she got into news, but she has never done anything of this magnitude.
The professional she got to share the course with was former U.S. Open champion and Clemson Tiger Lucas Glover.
Her experience started on the putting green, where she got to know the amateur she was caddying for. After the driving range, it was on to hole one.
At the tee box, Ertle helped capture some photos of the other amateurs and caddies at tee with one of the officials, while also making sure to get in a photo herself.
Glover sent a drive down the fairway, later logging a good score. Ertle’s partner kept his in the fairway and later drained a nice putt on hole one to start the day with a bogey.
Amateur golfer Byron Daub, for whom Ertle caddied, said she was doing well.
“She is doing ok, so far. I have a heavy bag, so she is doing a good job,” Daub said.
When asked if he had any tips for her through the rest of the course, Daub said, “Just do a lot of math when you add up my score.”
Ertle and her group teed off in the afternoon.
She will be able to tell you more about the experience when she returns to the weather center on Wednesday night on The News at 11!
