WTOC Top Teacher: Vanasha Wright-Palmer
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - For Vanasha Wright-Palmer, teaching isn’t just a job, it’s something she says is in her blood.
Wright-Palmer teaches 5th grade math and science at Butler Elementary School in Savannah and says she’s committed to helping young children succeed.
“My goal is for my kids to become lifelong learners for them to see themselves as being able to do anything they want to do,” said Palmer.
Wright-Palmer has been teaching for 21 years and says this is all she’s ever wanted to do.
“I always wanted to be a teacher particularly because I am service-oriented and I really love helping people, and I also have had awesome teachers to help me choose this as a career path,” she said.
Wright-Palmer creates a safe space where students aren’t afraid to stumble and learn from their mistakes—a classroom culture that makes all the difference.
“I have their best interest at heart,” she said. “And I am there to support them, and everything you do in your room has their interest in mind.”
