WTOC Top Teacher: Lyn Peacock

by Mike Cihla

WAYNE COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - Lyn Peacock comes from a family of teachers and is now trying to help her students at North Tattnall Middle School become whatever they want to be in life.

“I’ve been teaching since 2001. My dad told me I couldn’t be a teacher because he and my mom are teachers. My heart was always in teaching, because I grew up in Wayne County, and in Wayne County when I was in school, the teachers there were fantastic. They gave me a love of learning that I wanted to pass on to others. My goal is for them to be successful, with what is successful to them. There was a time when everybody should go to college and everybody need to be at a university, that is no longer the case. If my kids are better hands on kids, that’s what I want them to do. If they want to be an accountant or doctor, I want them to go to University and follow that track. Their definition of success is important to me. I love learning so I hope that it kind of exudes off of me, onto my kids. I try to encourage them. What they see is more important than what you say,” said Peacock.
