WTOC Top Teacher: Bless Loadholt
WHITEMARSH ISLAND, Ga. (WTOC) - This week’s WTOC Top Teacher is hitting all the right notes as she is using her love of music to teach middle school students about all types of genres.
Bless Loadholt teaches music and chorus at Coastal Middle School in Chatham County.
She says her passion for music started at a young age and she knew it was her calling early on.
“I have been singing since three, I played piano starting in 5th grade, and I knew teaching was for me, since I was in 9th grade,” she said. “I knew teaching was for me when I was in 9th grade, so I’ve been working on this for a long time. It definitely is a passion.”
That passion is on display in her classroom. She tries to reach her students by opening their horizons.
“So for my music kids, I always ask what is music to you, and a lot of them will say it helps me feel comfortable, it helps me when I am upset,” Loadholt. “So that tells me right there, lets figure out how we can find something else that can help fuel that comfort spot for you.”
And creating that comfort spot, by helping her students learn more about themselves through music.
“Of course, I love what I am doing, so if you need me, I am here for you,” Loadholt said. “If you have questions I am here for you. So that we can get through this together. that they have that trusted adult in me.”
