WTOC Top Teacher: Bethany Cave

by WTOC Staff

EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - Bethany Cave, a 7th grade life science teacher at Ebenezer Middle School, has been named this week’s WTOC Top Teacher.

In her classroom, science isn’t just something students memorize — it’s something they experience.

“My niche is definitely science. I think if you ask my students, I try to make it as fun as possible, I have lots of good stories, right, they don’t always end well but they teach a lesson. But I really do try to make it fun,” Cave said.

Cave wants her students to understand that hard work and paying attention will pay off for them in the end.

“I can only help you if you tell me what you need, or if you take advantage of the resources that we give you. You walk in this door and soak in everything I am giving you, you are going to walk out with an ‘A,’” she said.

Middle school can be a tough time for students, but Cave wants them to know she is there for them.

“They are finding themselves and sometimes that can be really difficult. So we have to be understanding of that, they are super sweet most of them. But I do enjoy seeing them and I’ve got some that I am going to greatly miss, when they move up to 8th grade, but they’ll come back and see me,” Cave said.
