WTOC Top Teacher: Alanna Brown

by Mike Cihla

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Alanna Brown teaches 3rd grade at Live Oak Royal Academy in Jasper County.

“I just want to help them on that pathway to get there,” Brown says.

Now in her fifth year of teaching, Brown describes the work as a calling rather than a job.

“I’m just so comfortable when I’m in my element, and talking with the kids — I’m helping them learn. Their smiling faces help me get up every morning,” she says.

She says her goal is to create a safe, loving space for her students to learn and thrive.

“Oh I hope they think I am the best. I just hope they know that I truly care about them,” she says. “I want them to succeed. All I’m doing in here is to make sure they will be alright.”

As she continues her career, Brown’s priorities are helping each child grow academically and emotionally and ensure they leave her classroom ready for the next step.

“I want them to know that I truly care about them,” she said.
