The video was taken moments before Chatham County police say the driver of the red truck, Oscar Vasquez-Lopez, crashed into a car Hesse teacher Dr. Linda Davis was driving, killing her.

The Chatham County Police Department is investigating the crash. The agency said Monday Vasquez-Lopez was fleeing Department of Homeland Security Officers that had attempted to pull him over.

According to DHS, Vasquez-Lopez, from Guatemala, illegally entered the US at an unknown time, but has had a final order of removal against him since 2024. DHS said when officers tried to stop Vasquez-Lopez, he “initially complied, but then fled the scene, making a reckless U-turn and running a red light, colliding into a civilian vehicle.”

Other video, obtained by WTOC Investigates on Monday, shows that U-turn.

CCPD has charged Vasquez-Lopez with vehicular homicide and other auto crimes.
