WTOC Exclusive: 15-year-old murder suspect appears in court, pleads not guilty to killing mother

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A Chatham County teenager accused of stabbing his mother to death inside their Pooler home last year appeared in court for his arraignment.

15-year-old Bowen Bray is charged as an adult with malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault in connection with the death of his mother, Amanda Bray.

He has been held at the Youth Detention Center since his arrest.

During the hearing, Bray pleaded not guilty in front of Judge Karpf.

He appeared alongside his public defender and did not speak during the proceedings. Bray did not turn to face the courtroom and wore a mask covering most of his face.

According to investigators, officers were called the night of June 29 to a home on the 100 block of Berwick Lakes Boulevard in Pooler.

There, they found his 45-year-old mother, Amanda Bray, suffering from multiple stab wounds. She died from her injuries.

Now that he’s pleaded not guilty, his lawyer said there is still additional discovery in the case that needs to be discussed at a later time.
