WATCH: 2026 Greening of the City
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The spirit of St. Patrick’s Day is officially taking over the Hostess City.
Friday night, WTOC presented its annual “Greening of the City” special, marking the start of Savannah’s St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. The program, which began in 2024 to commemorate the city’s 200th St. Patrick’s Day parade, returned this year broadcasting live from the rooftop of the Drayton Hotel.
WTOC anchors Joe Hennessy and Shelby Coates hosted. They interviewed the 202nd Grand Marshal Martin Hogan as well as Savannah Mayor Van Johnson.
Joined by other members of the St. Patrick’s Day parade committee, the group counted down and flipped the switch to turn City Hall green.
The wave of green started Friday afternoon at Forsyth Park with the Greening of the Fountain.
