W. State Street shooting suspect indicted on multiple charges

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - [Update 4/2/2026] Kevin Smith Jimenez Morales was indicted on aggravated assault, family violence, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony and reckless driving.

[ORIGINAL STORY] The Savannah Police Department has arrested Kevin Smith Jimenez Morales, 21, in connection with a shooting that occurred on Jan. 11, 2026 in the 100 block of W. State St. and left an adult female victim with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers responded to a shooting in the area at approximately 3:06 a.m. Upon arrival, the adult female victim was found suffering from gunshot wounds.

She was transported by EMS to Memorial Health University Medical Center.

A suspect’s name and vehicle description were obtained from witnesses, and a traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle.

The vehicle occupants were detained, and after initial investigation, Jimenez Morales was taken into custody.

Jimenez Morales was charged with domestic aggravated assault, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, reckless conduct, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, hit and run duty of driver to stop at or return to scene of accident, pointing or aiming a gun at another, and littering.
