Voters getting side-by-side look at candidates in Georgia’s most important races
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Georgia’s primary season enters a pivotal stretch this week, with the Atlanta Press Club Loudermilk-Young debates giving voters a chance to compare candidates’ positions, temperament and command of issues in real time.
The debates - with some being broadcast on Atlanta News First and all of them being streamed on ANF+ - feature candidates in Georgia’s most consequential, May 19, 2026, primaries.
At the state level, four of Georgia’s top constitutional offices are open seats, meaning voters will elect a new governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state and attorney general this fall.
Two elections - districts 3 and 5 - are being held for seats on the hugely influential Public Service Commission.

At the federal level, U.S. House districts 1, 10, 11 and 13 are electing new congressional representatives this fall, as Buddy Carter (R-1) and Mike Collins (R-10) are running for the GOP Senate nomination this fall, while Barry Loudermilk (R-11) is retiring.

Developments in U.S. House district 13 have taken a somber tone with the passing of incumbent David Scott, who was seeking election to his 13th consecutive term. Five Democrats remain in the race, but Gov. Brian Kemp may call a special election to fill the rest of Scott’s term through the end of the year.
