Victim in fatal Hilton Head Island crash identified

HILTON HEAD, S.C. (WTOC) - [UPDATE 12/18/25] The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office released the name of 49-year-old Henry Boynton.

The coroner’s office said Boynton died on Dec. 16 at 12:56 a.m. on scene from multiple blunt force injuries at 1101 Main Street following a single motor vehicle collision, which occurred at around. 12:51 a.m. The SC Highway Patrol is the investigating agency.

[ORGINAL STORY] The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash.

The deadly crash happened on Hilton Head Island at 12:55 a.m. Tuesday morning. A car was traveling east on Main Street when it hit a curb, went off the roadway and hit a tree. Highway patrol said the driver was the only person in the car, that driver died at the scene.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
