BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC. (WTOC) - Allison Gallagher, an eighth-grade science teacher at H.E. McCracken Middle School was named Beaufort County’s 2025-2026 District Teacher of the Year!

Gallagher has been teaching in the district for 16 years.

“Teaching is who I am, and I am so thankful for this honor,” Gallagher said. “I started my teaching journey in this district 16 years ago, and I’m just so excited to continue my journey and my love of teaching in this role. I’m really excited about the growth that it will bring me, as well as the opportunities to share how amazing this district is, how amazing our students are, all of our families, our administrators, all of my fellow teachers, and I’m just really excited to be their representative.”

The announcement was made during the district’s Teacher of the Year ceremony at the Port Royal Sound Foundation Maritime Center where each School’s Teacher of the Year was recognized.

“When I heard my name called I was so excited because there’s such a great group of teachers in this district and I am just so honored to be in this district with all these amazing teachers and now I am so proud to be the voice for them and I am just so excited,” said Gallagher.

After the ceremony, Gallagher returned to her school where students and staff were waiting in the hallways cheering and celebrating her accomplishment. A huge congrats again to Allison!
