United Way to celebrate 211 Day with community event, art unveiling in Savannah
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A local organization is highlighting a service that helps thousands of Coastal Empire residents meet basic needs.
United Way of the Coastal Empire will host a 211 Day celebration on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Starland Yard to recognize the impact of its information and referral hotline.
The 211 service is a free, confidential resource that connects neighbors with essential local support, including housing assistance, utility help, and food services. Last year, the service assisted more than 8,600 callers, including nearly 5,000 households with housing needs, 2,300 with utility assistance, and 1,200 seeking food support.
The event will honor the 211 team and partner agencies and will include the unveiling of a new artwork by local artist Brittany Curry, known professionally as Inky Brittany. The piece is inspired by the impact of United Way’s 211 program.
