UPDATE: White Bluff closed due to person in distress at Hunter Army Airfield entrance

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - White Bluff Road was closed in both directions Sunday due to a person in distress at the entrance of Hunter Army Airfield.

A spokesperson with Hunter Army Airfield sent WTOC this statement:

“At approximately 10 a.m., law enforcement responded to a person at Wilson Gate on Hunter Army Airfield in mental distress. Out of an abundance of caution, the gate was closed while law enforcement investigates. The situation is ongoing, please avoid the area. utilize an alternate route to enter Hunter Army Airfield.”

As of 3 p.m. Sunday, a spokesperson with Hunter Army Airfield told WTOC the incident had been resolved and the Wilson Gate will resume normal operations.

Traffic was rerouted in this area while officials investigated.
